Interventional Radiology Procedures in Biopsy and Drainage (Techniques in Interventional Radiology)
The Techniques in Interventional Radiology series of handbooks describes in detail the various interventional radiology procedures and therapies that are in current practice. The series comprises four titles, which in turn cover procedures in angioplasty and stenting, transcatheter embolization and therapy, biopsy and drainage and ablation. Forthcoming are volumes on pediatric interventional radiology and neurointerventional radiology. Each book is laid out in bullet point format, so that the desired information can be located quickly and easily. Interventional radiologists at all stages, from trainees through to specialists, will find this book a valuable asset for their practice. Interventional Radiology Procedures in Biopsy and Drainage presents the full array of operations using these techniques. The book is split into two sections – one dedicated to biopsy procedures and the other to drainage procedures. Dr. Debra Gervais is Director of Pediatric Imaging and Associate Director of Abdominal Imaging and Intervention at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Dr. Tarun Sabharwal is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London, UK. Review From the reviews: “This volume deals with procedures in biopsy and drainage, clearly describing clinical features and indications, diagnostic evaluation, anatomy, equipment, medication, patient preparation, procedure modality, aftercare and follow-up complications. … it will be appreciated and frequently used by all those working in this difficult and fascinating field of radiology to obtain the best results for the patient.” (Giampiero Beluffi, La radiologia medica, Vol. 118, 2013) “This book forms part of a series providing technique specific information on interventional radiology procedures. … The information is readily accessible for day-to-day usage in the interventional or imaging department. The techniques covered within the book largely relate to biopsy and drainage procedures … . an excellent, well presented and readable reference book and will be found in the interventional suite of my own hospital. … essential reading for trainees. The editors are to be congratulated for … assisting in the day-to-day practice of interventionalists.” (Peter Ellis, RAD Magazine, September, 2011) “‘The bullet point format is exceedingly user-friendly which lends itself to use in a busy Interventional Unit as an easy reference. This is a user-friendly, well-illustrated book that can be used as both a departmental reference text and as an informative private learning guide for those involved in ‘everyday’ interventional work and/or preparing for postgraduate examinations.’” (BMA Medical Book Awards, September, 2011)
